Description
For Torra in the dSSS due South exchange. Torra requested Fraser, Ray Kowalski, Dief (Fraser's half-wolf companion) and a happy ending. Due South is a quirky magical realism TV show about a Mountie (Fraser) in Chicago, and his detective partner (Ray). In the final episode of the show, Fraser, Ray and Dief set off in northern Canada, in winter, on a quest to find the "Hand of Franklin".
This is intended to be Fraser's concept of "Happily Ever After" where Fraser, Ray and Dief are still travelling together in Autumn. It is influenced by the fairytale illustrations of Maxfield Parrish. I think Parrish's traditional, fairytale illustrations suit Fraser's offbeat, slightly magical and old-fashioned persona. The background is intended to look slightly fantasy-ish - which is just as well considering my failure to paint realistic trees
Many thanks to ~crysothemis and Ileliberte for their helpful critique.
PainterX, Wacom tablet. I used many references for inspiration, but I tried not to directly reference anything except the actors' faces (and Dief). The poses are rather awkward - I'm slowly getting better at being less tied to references, but I had all kinds of difficulties with their poses this time around. See the WIP

Edit. Fixed a few small things in the painting.
